We have failed In sports development – Okudzeto Ablakwah

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa

Former Deputy Minister of Education, Honorable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwah says the country has failed in the development of sports.

Over the years, the country has produced great heroes through the development of sports.

According to the Member of Parliament for the people of North Tongu constituency, the country can derive huge sum of money from the creation of hall of fame for the past and current national heroes but before that is being instituted; the country has to start developing sports because the country has failed in terms of developing sports.

“Ghana has failed in developing sports.” He told Asempa FM. “I think we can do better in the development of sports in the country and by doing that the county will get money through that.

“The country always goes to IMF to borrow money but if we as a country pay attention in the development of sports and even create hall of fame for tourists to visit the place I believes the country will get huge sums of money from that point.

“We are known globally and anytime people travel outside the country and meet people through their conversation they start to call out the name of Abedi Pele, Tony Yeboah, Asamoah Gyan and the likes meaning if we pay attention to the development the country will derive huge sums of money.”

He further called on the government to provide facilities for the development of sports in the various schools.

“I will call on the government to provide facilities for schools because that is where the development starts. You will be surprised to know that some schools don’t even have pitches for physical education which is compulsory for the students.

“I believe by providing these necessities for the schools our sports development will be awesome.” He concluded.
