Maurice Ampaw labels Agyinasare as ‘slay king pastor’
Lawyer Maurice Ampaw has criticized Archbishop Charles Agyinasare, the Founder and leader of Perez Chapel International, for his response to an ongoing dispute between the pastor and the Nogokpo community in the Volta Region of Ghana.
Agyinasare had reportedly made a statement about Nogokpo being the “demonic headquarters” of the Volta Region during a sermon. This led to a backlash from the community, and the chiefs of Nogokpo issued a 14-day ultimatum for Agyinasare to appear before them and explain his statement.
The ultimatum has since expired without any consequences, and Agyinasare celebrated the fact that no action was taken against him.
However, Lawyer Maurice Ampaw expressed disappointment in Agyinasare’s behavior, stating that as a well-respected man of God, he should have shown maturity and sensitivity in his response.
Ampaw highlighted that the Nogokpo community was not threatening Agyinasare with spiritual repercussions, and instead, the situation called for dialogue and understanding. He also emphasized that Agyinasare’s jubilation over the expiration of the ultimatum was unnecessary and could further escalate tensions.
The Nogokpo community had demanded that Agyinasare explain his statement and clarify any misconceptions. The chiefs of Nogokpo expressed concern that Agyinasare’s comments had negative implications for their efforts to develop tourism and enhance their economic prospects.
The incident has raised questions about cultural sensitivity, responsible speech, and respectful engagement between religious leaders and communities.
