    Ex-GFA president Kwesi Nyantakyi, eight others join race for John Kumah’s Ejisu seat – Report

    After the passing of John Kumah, the Member of Parliament for Ejisu, the constituency has become a hub of political activity as nine members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) gear up to compete for the vacant seat.

    Among the prominent contenders is Kwesi Nyantakyi, former President of the Ghana Football Association, whose participation at the Ashanti Region campaign launch of the ruling party indicated his interest in running for the position.

    Also in the running is Abena Pokuaa Boaitey, known as ‘Ejisu Bronii,’ making her fifth bid to secure the constituency’s mandate.

    She serves as the CEO of Golden Beach Hotels Group.

    Lawyer Portia Acheampong Abronye, wife of the NPP’s Bono Region Chairman, has also joined the race, along with Helena Mensah, the current Presiding Member of the Ejisu Municipal Assembly.

    Former Presiding Member of the Ejisu Municipal Assembly, Michael Owusu, has declared his intention to vie for the seat as well.

    Additionally, the current Constituency Chairman of the Ejisu Municipal Assembly, Kofi Agyapong, has thrown his hat into the ring, alongside executive member Kwabena Boateng.

    Dr. Evans Duah, a lecturer at the Akenten Appiah Menkah University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED), has also announced his candidacy for the parliamentary seat.
