IGP Women Impress, GRA Edge Extinguishers as Salpholda Hockey League Week 4 Heats Up

Week 4 of the 2025 Salpholda Hockey League kicked off with a closely contested development division game at the Theodosia Okoh Hockey Pitch, where Einstein Hockey edged Tema Manhean with a lone goal to grab a narrow 1-0 win.

In the women’s division, IGP Women continued their dominant run, dispatching Reformers 3-0 in a strong team display.

Christian Lawer opened the scoring in the 12th minute with a field goal, before Martha Sarfoa struck twice in quick succession during the third quarter to seal the win.

Speaking after the match, Lawer praised the team's unity and determination, saying, “Our win today is through hard work and the support we are receiving from the whole Police Force. We are writing a different story this season.”

Meanwhile, the Legonknights Ladies showed character in their matchup against Army Ladies.

Recovering from a heavy defeat to GRA the previous week, the Knights held off Army’s repeated attacks, frustrating them despite five penalty corners.

However, a penalty corner goal from Otto Eleanor in the 11th minute proved to be the difference, as Army secured a 1-0 win. Legonknights' deputy captain remained upbeat, stating, “We saw a different energy today. We may have lost, but we definitely outplayed Army.”

The headline match of the day featured defending champions GRA clashing with Extinguishers in a thrilling encounter filled with national team experience.

Vivian Narkuor once again delivered for GRA, netting twice to continue her goal-scoring form.

Extinguishers’ keeper Precious Osei made key saves to keep the game close, and Racheal Bamfo gave her side a lifeline with a well-taken goal. Still, it ended 2-1 in favor of GRA.

GRA’s Gertrude acknowledged the tight contest, commenting, “It’s tough playing against a team that knows your every move, but we’re glad we managed to secure the points.”

On the other hand, Extinguishers’ captain pointed to fatigue as a key issue: “You could see in the second half we were tired. We’re pleading with our superiors to bring in fresh legs to help us compete better.”

As the league gains momentum, Week 4 has added more drama and raised the stakes, promising an exciting season ahead for hockey fans across the nation.
