Bodies of victims of helicopter crash transferred to 37 hospital
The Ghana Armed Forces has confirmed that the bodies of all eight victims of Wednesday’s fatal Z-9 military helicopter crash have been flown to Accra and deposited at the 37 Military Hospital in preparation for interment.
The remains, recovered from the crash site near Sikaman in the Adansi Akrofuom area of the Ashanti Region, arrived aboard a Ghana Air Force Casa aircraft on the afternoon of August 6, 2025.
A solemn reception was held at the Air Force Base in Accra, where the Chief of Staff at the Presidency, Hon. Julius Debrah, led government officials, the Military High Command, and well-wishers to receive the fallen.
Defense Minister, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, Environment Minister, Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammad and other six senior government officials died on Wednesday in the crash that has devastated Ghanaians.
Consequently, President John Mahama has declared three days of national mourning and prayers as flags fly at half must.
