The Minister of Youth and Sports, Isaac Kwame Asiamah has disclosed that government has approved an amount US$ 8m budget for the hosting of the 2018 Women Africa Women’s Cup of Nations.
Ghana will host the tournament for the first time after placing 3rd in Cameroon in the last edition.
In his first meet the press encounter with the media on Tuesday, the minister indicated that the amount will cater for renovation works at the Accra Sports Stadium, training pitches at El Wak and the Robert Mensah Stadium in Cape Coast.
“The Akufo-Addo led government has approved $8 million for the hosting of the Women’s AFCON, and this will include renovation at the Accra Sports Stadium, training pitches at El-Wak and the Robert Mensah Stadium in Cape Coast,” Mr Asiamah said when he met the press on Tuesday.
“There will be some training pitches being put in good shape for the tournament,” he added.
The Black Queens who won the 2018 WAFU Championship in Ivory Coast will be expected to win the ultimate later this year.
