President Nana Akufo-Addo has suspended the Board Chairman of National Sports Authority, Kwado Baah Agyemang in relation to the 60 Ghanaians who were deported during the Commonwealth Games in Australia.
The number comes to three officials who have been suspended, after the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Pius Enam Hadzie and the acting National Sports Authority Director General, Robert Sarfo Mensah were also suspended last week.
The suspended Board Chairman was recalled from the games, together with the President of the Ghana Olympic Committee, Ben Nunoo Mensah and the head of the delegation for the games, Mohammed Sahnoon to assist with further investigations.
He was appointed Chairman of the Board in September 2017. Australian authorities last week deported 50 Ghanaians who were said to be posing as journalists for the Commonwealth Games.
Authorities of the host countries made it known that they were not convinced that they were real journalists as they did not have the required equipment to work during such a sporting activity.
