I’m ready to sacrifice my seat for Bawumia to become President – Deputy Defence Minister
Member of Parliament(MP) for Atwima Kwanwoma Constituency in the Ashanti Region and Deputy Defence Minister, Hon Kofi Amankwa-Manu has said he is ready to sacrifice his seat in parliament for Vice President Dr. Bawumia to become the next President of the Republic of Ghana.
“If I have to lose my seat for Dr. Bawumia to win the NPP primaries to continue the mantle, I am ready for it, because I have supported him. I will sacrifice my seat for the NPP because it’s not about me.” Hon Kofi Amankwa-Manu said this in an interview with Kumasi-based Fox FM monitored by MyNewsGH.com.
The Deputy Minister explained that he is risking his seat for the victory of the Vice President because he thinks Dr. Bawumia has been so much instrumental in the current NPP government and also incomparable considering the number of innovative ideas and initiatives he has made towards the development of the country in the Fourth Republic.
To him, he is the best Vice President the country has had for the three decades of democratic governance.
“Since the inception of the 1992 Constitution among both parties the NPP and the NDC, give me one Vice President who has been so instrumental, who has been so much talked about. A Vice President who is seen working, not an armchair Vice President, it is Dr Mahamadu Bawumia.” Hon Kofi Amankwa-Manu stressed in his interview.
He emphasized however that, this is not to say the other candidates aspiring to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are not capable or are not worth it but looking at the current state of the country, Dr Mahamadu Bawumia is the best man.
“All of them are capable of becoming President even me, I am capable. But at this moment, he is our best bet. When we look at the innovative ideas Dr Bawumia has brought on board, you don’t need to be told that he can do the job”, Mr. Kofi Amankwa-Manu stressed.
