I never called Mahama a guinea fowl – Atta Akyea

Samuel Atta Akyea, MP for Akyem Abuakwa South, has flatly denied media reports that he described former President John Dramani Mahama as a guinea fowl.

In a statement released on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, the former Works and Housing Minister insisted that the reports were false, malicious and unwarranted, intended to tarnish his image and sour his longstanding relationship with the former first family.

The legislator added that his "debonair upbringing and good relationship with the former president" would not permit him to make such an "unsavory comment", warning of a possible legal action if the madia continue to drag his name in the mud.

The allegations against the respected law maker first surfaced on social media on Tuesday.

A video was shared online that purportedly showed Samuel Atta Akyea MP for Akyem Abuakwa South making the insulting comment about Mahama during a campaign tour by Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in the Eastern Region.

The report has attracted harsh criticisms from  some supporters of the former president, who described the reports as "politically motivated."
