Highly influential figures are out to get Movement for Change – Buaben Asamoah
A member of the Movement for Change, Yaw Buaben Asamoa, has alleged that the party is currently under attack by some prominent individuals in the political landscape.
In an interview on UTV, the former New Patriotic Party (NPP) member noted that electorates who are interested in casting their ballot for former Trade Minister, Alan Kyerematen, are being persuaded not to do so on the rationale that the party will be robbed in the 2024 election as it has no polling station.
Mr Buaben Asamoa noted that such actions should not be acceptable as they set a bad precedent for Ghana’s electoral process. He did not disclose the identities of the said individuals badmouthing the Movement for Change.
“Some big men in Ghana are saying that this movement is an underdog so we will rob them during the elections. So anyone who wants to vote for Alan Kyerematen shouldn’t becuase it would be a waste of vote. Why should this be so. They are saying because he doesn’t have a polling station, he will be robbed. And a big person will tell me this. How?” he revealed.
On the other hand, Buaben Asamoa is urging the Electoral Commission (EC) to permit the inclusion of independent presidential candidates in Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meetings. The former Adentan MP asserts that independent candidates play a crucial role as stakeholders in the nation’s electoral processes.
In an interview with Citi FM, Mr. Asamoa articulated that incorporating independent candidates into IPAC meetings would introduce diverse ideas that could contribute to the overall benefit of the country. This move, he believes, would foster inclusivity and enrich the electoral discourse with a broader range of perspectives.
