24-Hour economy not our only employment strategy – Mahama
Former President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, has indicated that the 24-hour economy proposed by him is not the only strategy the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will use in addressing unemployment in Ghana.
According to him, the party has several ideas on how to address unemployment, and the 24-hour economy is just one of them.
He acknowledges that the 24-hour economy, which to him is a game changer, will create vacancies that will be filled by the teeming unemployed youth, but other strategies which will be made public later will also help address unemployment, which has become a threat to the country’s security.
John Dramani Mahama was speaking to the Regional House of Chiefs in the Oti Region when he made this known.
He said “It is an easy way to increase the vacancies for employment generation while we add on more avenues. It doesn’t mean that that is the only strategy for employment.
“We will outdoor it before we come into government and when we come into government we will hit the ground running with it. As I said it is not going to be compulsory. If you want to join, you join.”
