National Security Must Arrest and Detain Mahama – Moshake

A former executive of the Tema East constituency branch of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is asking the National Security to ready a stint operation for the arrest of former President John Mahama immediately after the 2024 elections.

In an interview with journalists in Tema on Monday, Stephen Ashitey Adjei, alias Moshake, said the operation is necessary to ensure that the country is not flung to the brink of chaos again as happened in the aftermath of the 2020 elections.

“They can code-name the stint operation as “Operation Curtail Mahama” if they like, but whatever they do, they must ensure that Mahama is not allowed any wiggle room to incite the youth to violence with lies after he loses the election,” Moshake said.

According to him, the advice is borne out of a desire to ensure that the 2024 elections, which will be a testy one for Ghana, does not push the country into chaos as nearly happened in 2020.

Explaining, Moshake pointed out that some six people died in that election because former President John Mahama had lied that he had won 10 regions out of 16, at the time of the receival of provisional results.

However, it was not true that Mahama had won the election, Moshake said.

“To reiterate the obvious, this undermined the integrity of the electoral commission and the country as a whole.”

According to him, Mr. John Mahama will do the same thing after he loses the 2024 election.

“From his demeanour and desperate desire for a comeback, Mr. Mahama can be deduced to be readying for a similar announcement in December. This is why he must be arrested immediately so that he does not succeed in inciting the public to anger,” Moshake said.

And according to the former NDC party executive, the former president will surely lie because recently he has been lying about his receipt of ex-gratia when indeed he has been enjoying the same ex-gratia all this while.

“It’s sad but Mr. Mahama can just not be trusted to remain civil after he loses any election because of his past conducts. Prevention is better than cure,” Moshake concluded.
